Getting married is a beautiful thing, but often couples get caught up in the whirlwind of the big event and all that leads up to it – the dress, the party, the guest list!  But it’s what happens after you get married that matters most.  Our time together will help prepare you for that.

What We Do

Marriage Matters prepares couples for the covenant of marriage by nurturing an intimate relationship between you and your spouse, with God at the center. It will show you how to slow down, reduce the noise, enjoy the promise you have made to each other and create an environment where God can work in your marriage because your marriage matters to God.

Through education, activities and discussions, we will help provide you with the tools you need to communicate effectively, share intimacy and resolve conflicts regarding roles of husbands and wives, money, sex and so much more. You will come away with a fresh perspective of you and your spouse’s strengths and growth opportunities which will empower you to become stronger in the areas that may cause difficulty down the road.

We are certified facilitators of the Prepare-Enrich program which has yielded successful results for over 35 years. Prepare-Enrich will help you:

  • Prepare for marriage
  • Strengthen your bond
  • Build communication tools
  • Develop a future focused plan for success
  • Provide a clear view of your relationship
  • Identify warning signs that your marriage is heading in the wrong direction
  • Reduce your risk of divorce

Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.

We have been married for 15+ years, but what may surprise you is we’ve both been married before. This gives us a unique perspective on what it means and what it takes to be married.

We have an understanding of what happened in our first marriages and have applied that to our commitment to each other and the couples we coach. God is the center of our marriage and we work hard every day to honor HIM and each other.

As marriages coaches, we hope that by being honest and transparent about our journey, we can prepare couples to create Oneness in their marriage that will last a lifetime.

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

What Newlyweds Are Saying

Prepare to be ENRICHED!

Working with Leslie and Rocky through our premarital coaching sessions was an invaluable experience.  I was amazed by what we took away from every session. Each visit we were enlightened with topics and exercises that spurred new conversation and realizations as my fiancé (now husband) and I became more aware of one another’s strengths,  weaknesses and personalities.  With their support and guidance we learned ways to navigate and prepare for challenges we are met with now, or may be met with ahead.

It takes special people to do what they do.  What I appreciated most through the process was that regardless of  background, faith,  areas of weakness – they never for one second made us feel judged, wrong or “less than.” Not only are they trustworthy and generally fun to spend time with, but they made us feel so comfortable from day one to speak freely and openly with them about our relationship.  This environment they created really allowed us to listen and learn from each other, and hear really helpful tips and real life experiences from Leslie and Rocky as well.

The coaching strengthened the bond we already have and helped pave the way for the journey of “oneness” before us. While they easily became fast friends, it is also a comfort to know that going forward we had formed a solid relationship with the Marrin’s unconditional support.

If you’re planning a wedding, add this to your to-do list. Don’t walk down the aisle without it!

SARA + CORBIN

It’s easy to say Rocky and Leslie are great, but they truly made our premarital/ Marriage Matters journey so amazing. I was raised catholic and have grown up with a slightly strained relationship with God, so was initially nervous to start this process. However, after the first lunch with Rocky, I was immediately at ease when he opened up about his similar experiences and completely understood how I could feel the way I felt. All of that to say, Rocky and Leslie make you feel 100% comfortable, there’s no pressure to answer questions a specific way or be anything other than yourself. I could go on and on but I/We do truly love them (Sara).

Rocky and Leslie are the perfect combination of people who make you feel like your best friends who you’ve known for years while also being the guiding mentors you need in this next step of your life (Corbin).

The most important thing we learned from all of this is that communication is our strongest category (if that is the right term here). While that may seem minor, it helps when we are having a tough day or week, or are arguing about something minor it is really helpful to be able to reflect back and know that when we communicate how we are feeling and have open and honest conversations we will be able to work everything out. There have been times where we want to shut down and not continue a conversation but because we had Rocky and Leslie emphasize how important it is to have such a strong foundation of communication we are able to push through and find a resolution even when it’s hard.

Rocky and Leslie always had helpful advice on any situations we brought up and if they didn’t have an immediate answer for us, they took it away, thought about it, and came back the next meeting with a productive conversation or a way for us to think/talk through what we brought up.

We absolutely loved your program!  Our biggest takeaway with the program was oneness.  That word has come to mean so much to us.  We strive to live our engaged life that way and will continue to do so once we are married.  The lessons we have learned from the both of you will carry on with us forever.  We appreciate the life experiences you both have shared with us.  Both of us enjoyed hearing your stories and how the stories you shared related to the session material and our results from the exam.  We believe that we have grown closer and can relate to each other even better than before from meeting with you both.

Back to the term oneness.  That was the sole most important thing we learned during our sessions.  As we mentioned before, your stories really helped to hone in on the meaning of oneness and how we can continually learn from each other and better practice oneness through Jesus Christ.  We also really liked that you both encompassed humor into your sessions.  It truly proves that we are all human and no marriage is perfect.  Finding laughter in daily life is important and can be a major part to us maintaining oneness.  We definitely found the test results to be impactful and your explanations to each category very meaningful.

Thank you both for your teachings and showing us the term oneness and what it means to be one with each other and Jesus Christ!

Our experience with Rocky and Leslie was invaluable. My husband had concerns about diving so deep into our relationship with two people who we knew personally, but from the moment we started the coaching Rocky and Leslie made us feel so comfortable with sharing our joys and also our struggles with them.

Our communication regarding all of the topics covered in the premarital coaching improved greatly throughout the process. Rocky and Leslie were helpful in identifying any barriers that we may have been experiencing in communicating within these areas. We were surprised about how vulnerable both my husband and I, as well as Rocky and Leslie, became throughout this process. This transparency that Rocky and Leslie showed is what made this process truly feel like coaching instead of lecturing us.

There was never a moment where we didn’t feel like Rocky and Leslie were absolutely 100% on our side and invested in our relationship. We both feel that Rocky and Leslie were an integral part in molding the foundation for our marriage.

Going into our fourth year of marriage we continue to rely on those communication skills we were taught during the premarital coaching. Having an unbiased third party, especially Rocky and Leslie, help dissect and grow our partnership was something we didn’t know we needed but we now recommend it to every couple before getting married.

We are forever grateful to the two of them for all of their hard work and for opening their hearts to us.

COURTNEY + JARRATT

Rocky and Leslie are just incredible. We really cherished our time with them as we prepared for marriage and we still find ourselves referring back to our time with them.

One thing that really stuck out to us was to remember to do the small things for each other without being asked that may not be important to you but means the world to your spouse. For example Jarratt would leave the bed undone all day, but because he knows it’s important to Courtney, he makes it daily without being asked. One of Jarratt’s love languages is words of affirmation so Courtney will occasionally leave a loving sticky note for him to wake up to since she leaves for work before he is fully up.

Oneness always being the goal also really resonates with us in early marriage and especially after becoming new parents. Oneness has allowed us to be on the same page with raising our child and has helped us be able to communicate with family and friends regarding what we think is best for our child and set boundaries.

I think what surprised us most about our time was how high we scored on communication. It was definitely our strength and we didn’t realize it until we discussed this category. When we have a disagreement to this day we still say, “hey communication is our strength and we need to talk through this!”

Again, we absolutely loved our time with Leslie and Rocky. They are so fun and we loved how open they were, nonjudgmental, great at facilitating conversations and such a beautiful example of a loving God centered marriage.

MEG + CAM

We’re so grateful we were able to work through the Prepare/Enrich curriculum with Rocky and Leslie. They brought wisdom, love, and laughter to every session as they led us through the vital discussions to have before getting married.

My spouse and I learned so much about each other and ourselves through these discussions during a busy time when wedding planning easily becomes the top priority. These conversations helped us keep the development of our marriage the primary focus during our engagement.

We also appreciated how Rocky and Leslie were not only grounded in their relationship to each other, but primarily, in their relationship to Jesus. We felt that each week we not only grew closer to each other as a couple, but we grew closer to Jesus and were strengthened by that common bond.

We’re so blessed to have gone through this process with two people as loving, wise, funny and Christ-centered as Rocky and Leslie!

We would highly recommend them to anyone who is going to get married or wants to grow in their marriage.
